I Will Never Leave Thee Nor Forsake Thee

Memory Verse: Hebrews 13:5
Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

This is a reminder for us Christians, that we should be contented of the things we have. We should not covet other people's possessions. Why? Because God promised us that He will never leave us nor forsake us. Isn't that is more than enough? The almighty God is always with us, the creator and heaven and earth, the one who owns the universe will never forsake us. What else should we worry about?

Sufficient Grace

Memory Verse: 2 Corinthian 2:9
And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

We know that Paul, during his ministry, suffered from physical infirmities. Prior to this verse, he mentioned that he besought the Lord, not only once, but thrice, that his thorn of the flesh may depart from him. And this is God's answer to him. God did not take away his infirmities from assured Paul that His grace is sufficient for him.

What a great promise, isn't? We maybe in trouble or in pain or in financial crisis at the moment, but always remember that His grace is sufficient for us. He will supply whatever our needs at the moment. He is just waiting for us to claim them from Him. So what are you waiting for? Kneel down and bring unto God your need and wait for His answer.

Have a blessed day!

Few Laborers

Memory Verse: Matthew 9:37
Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;
Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.

More and more people hear the Word of God everyday. The Word of God is being preached all over the world via television, radio, internet and other forms of media and communications. But how about those who cannot be reached by these media. And how about those who were able to hear the Word of God but no one made any followed-up on them? How many of them will be truly saved? And if they got saved, how many of them will grow and mature spiritually?

Let us face it, human intervention is still necessary and God still uses man (or woman) to reach out the lost souls. But not all of us can go to the field. God chose, prepared and equipped certain Christians to do the actual job. These are the missionaries, who leave their conveniences, friends and even love ones to obey God's calling. They bravely face or willing to face all the uncertainties that are waiting for them in their mission field.

As their brethren, are we just going to stand away from the field and watch them do all the work? Are we not going to help them? Can we just let them give up everything for the lost soul while we are enjoying our lives selfishly? Until when we will be just a spectator?

If we cannot go physically, let us help them by sharing what we have to meet their daily needs. We can give to help them reach their mission field. Will you be willing to share? Your one cent can go miles if given for the Lord's work.

Life Is Just a Vapour

Memory Verse:

James 4: 14
"Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. "

No one in this world can exactly predict the time of his or her death. Even those who are terminally ill cannot determine when will they die. Their doctors can only estimate based on their condition. But no one will be able to determine the exact date and time.

Our life is compared to a vapor. It will be here for a while but at no time at all it will be gone. Our life here on earth is just temporal. And after our life here on earth, we will be leaving in eternity.

As early as now, we already need to decide where and to whom we want to live our eternity? Do we desire to live with our Creator or with His Enemy? In Paradise or in Hell, the place of torment?

The power of God to forgive sin is on earth only, while we still live and can still make a decision. There is only a way to be with God in eternity, and that is through Jesus Christ. We need to accept the fact that you are a sinner and you need a Saviour. Anyway, there is no one who can claim that he is sinless. We don't only need to believe on Jesus Christ but to trust Him that He can save us from the fury of Hell. You have to accept Him as your personal Lord and Saviour. That is only the way to Heaven.

I sincerely hope that you will not waste this chance, the chance to be with God eternally. Now is the perfect time for you to make a decision.

Trust In God Is Better Than Putting Confidence in Man

Memory Verse:
Psalm 118:8 "It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man."

Have you ever experienced betrayed by your friend or by someone very close to you? Someone whom you really trust and share your secrets with? Painful right? And very disappointing because that is the last person that you expect to betray you.

This only proves that is only God whom we can trust without any chance to betray us. The more we trust God, the more that we please Him and the more we grow about the knowledge of Him.

I am not telling here that we cannot trust anyone, but what I am trying to emphasize is that human beings are always limited. Our most loved person can hurt us unintentionally. They can leave us without any reason. And whatever we do to please, it is simply impossible to please at all times.

God is exactly opposite. God is unlimited. He can think, perform beyond are thoughts and expectation. Our deepest and most dreadful secrets are safe with Him.

You need someone you can share your secrets with? Tell them to God and your secrets are safe.

Your Heart Is Where Your Treasure Is

Matthew 6:21 says "For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." This simply means that if we invest our money on material things here on earth, our heart is in this earth also but if we have invested our money on spiritual things, which is of the heaven, our heart is in heaven. How do we feel seeing Jesus again? Excited? Hesitant? Why? Is it because we have so many things here on earth that we don't want to leave? Big house? latest car model? Hi-tech and updated appliances? conveniences? fun activities with friends?

Remember that we came to this world naked, and we will leave this world naked. We will soon leave all the things that we have here on earth. If you accepted Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour, you will be with Him. If you have no personal relation with Him yet, it is not too late yet. You can accept His wonderful and eternal gift which is the everlasting life. But just the same, we cannot carry anything with us when we finally reach our final destination. You will not enjoy the things you have now if these things will be left someday. So you might as well use your money for the work of Lord and I am sure that you will have more gains for eternity.

Have a blessed week!

One Flesh

Genesis 2:24 says, "Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh."

This instruction was given right after God brought Eve to Adam, after the first operation and after Adam called Eve a woman. Adam and Eve do not have biological dads nor moms. They were the first parent. But still God gave this instruction to them, because God foreknew that they will they will soon have their own children and their children will have their own family in the future. The instruction is given to them because God expected them to relay this to their future children and to prepare them as well. God wanted them to know that once their sons decided to have their own family, their sons need to leave them and be with his wife. This instruction is repeated in Ephesians 5:31.

I believe that this instruction is not given for nothing. I believe that God forsee the problems that arise when the children who decided to settle down still stay on their parents side. For one, the couple will not learn to build their own family. They will still depend on their parents for almost everything; decisions, finances, taking care of their kids and many other things that they supposed to learn if they decided to live on their own. And for the parents who allowed this kind of setup, they are teaching their kids to be weaklings and dependent on them.
In countries where extended families are not being practiced, this is not a problem. But in Philippines, extended families are very common. Families of the children still live with their parents. There are even some cases where the families of the grandchildren still live in their grandparents' house. Clearly, God's commandment and instruction is being ignored. Sad, but this setup is acceptable in countries like Philippines.
Many didn't realize that this kind of setup is the root of many marital and family problems. Truly, if God's instruction is not obeyed, expect problems and hurts to face.

Provoke not to wrath

I always believe that parents can make or break their children. The father's role in raising a child plays a big part on the child's future preferences and decisions, specially in their spiritual choices. Fathers can be an encouragement to their children to have an intimate relation with our Saviour or they can also be the cause of the children's choice not to serve God.

I witness many cases wherein the fathers are faithful in the church. And what I mean by faithful is not only faithful attending church worship services, but actively participating in almost all the ministries in the church. But sad, because they and sometimes they wives, are the only active in the family. Their children chose to have a different life.

Of course, this is not the father or parents' fault alone. But somehow, the parents of this children failed in some area, that is why they choice a different path.

So God, being an all-knowing God, gave a reminder for fathers in Colossians 3:21 to prevent this scenario. Colossians 3:21 says "Father, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged."

Glad Father

Proverbs 15:20 says, "A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish man despiseth his mother."

Wise is defined as Dictated or guided by wisdom; containing or exhibiting wisdom; well adapted to produce good effects; judicious; discreet; as, a wise saying; a wise scheme or plan; wise conduct or management; a wise determination (thinkexist.com).
Do we not give joy and gladness to our parents if we do the right thing? We do not only give gladness but also peace of mind to our father if he sees that we act with wisdom and knowledge for he will be assured that we our life will not be in trouble.
The best wisdom that we can acquire in this world is the wisdom from God. For it is clean and pure. And we can get that wisdom if we fear God and we meditate upon His word.
You want to make your father glad? Then be wise :)

The Lord will take you up

In the coming days, I will sharing fatherly verses to honour our fathers. These are verses with "father" word. Join me as I memorize and/or refresh these verses.

To begin with, let us memorize Psalm 27:10. The Bible says "When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up." What an assurance isn't?

God already knew that there will be parents who will leave and forsake their children. This is the reason why this verse was written, to comfort those kids who were neglected by their parents.

Children who grew up in the nurture of their parents should be thankful that their parents are responsible enough to take care of them no matter how imperfect their parents maybe. Anyway, nobody is perfect, only God is perfect.
